Here’s Why You Shouldn’t Miss the Philadelphia Flower Show

Even if escaping to the Mediterranean isn’t in your budget this winter, you can still get a taste of the Riviera right near your The Hamilton apartment all without spending much! This year’s Philadelphia Flower Show is themed Riviera Holiday, featuring displays inspired by the sights and smells of exotic Mediterranean gardens.

The annual show, held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, just six blocks from your The Hamilton apartment, is the world’s largest and longest-running horticultural celebration. If you’ve never been, make this your year to check out the show, which features larger-than-life displays that are a sight to behold, regardless of whether or not you fancy yourself as having a green thumb!

The convention hall will be brimming with citrus trees, a lush promenade, lots of lavender as a nod to the gardens of Monaco and an esplanade of flowering arches. To compete for top prizes, some of the nation’s most talented botanists and floral designers will create massive displays built around the Riviera theme, all of which visitors can walk through and around, offering ample photo opps. The theme will carry through the entire festival, with décor that includes pottery and patterned tiles, fountains and more, as well as the opportunity to take home many Mediterranean-inspired floral selections.

Education is at the heart of the Flower Show so, while you’re there, take in a lecture or a hands-on class so you can bring a touch of floral flair to your The Hamilton apartment this spring. There are also lots of “make and take” crafts opportunities and the chance to walk through a massive display of live butterflies. Also popular is the wine and liquor tasting section, which allows free and unlimited samples to all ticket holders. The show runs Feb. 28-March 9, so get your tickets now and don’t miss this once-a-year Philly favorite!
